September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗

The Below is taken from @mummysocial whose son Dexter is a Leukaemia Warrior @thediaryofdex 

Please take the time to read the below, their story is being shared to encourage people to give blood and donate to cancer charities 

“When you step foot into the Children's Oncology ward you realise that Childhood Cancer isn't as rare as you once thought. Something that you once read about in magazines or saw on social media, something that 'happened to other people', is now happening to you

Your child doesn't feel sorry for themselves, they show incredible resilience and bravery, while you silently fall apart inside. You watch helplessly as your child becomes a shell of their former selves but they still manage a smile, to be cheeky, to play

You focus on each day, taking baby steps to navigate each hurdle and if you are lucky - like us - you all start to re-emerge, your child gets better and you start moving on with your life and a new 'normal'. But everyday around 5 more children are diagnosed with cancer and 5 more families silently fall apart. All of these children have to go through very long, very hard treatment
